Martin Custom Shop 045 Madagascar Rosewood Adirondack Spruce 2014

In the field of fingerstyle, Martin's compact vintage guitars are unsurpassed instruments. This 045 is a beautiful example of this, and is a guitar that has a grand appearance due to its graceful details.

With Martin's vision, the skills of the luthiers and the use of the best materials, the Martin Custom Shop always succeeds in delivering a perfect Custom guitar. The attention to detail in the construction of these instruments is astonishing and the feeling of having a custom made guitar is simply irreplaceable!

To get as close as possible to the sound of Brazilian rosewood, Martin has chosen Madagascar rosewood, which sounds very similar to the coveted Brazilian rosewood. This Custom Shop 045 takes it a step further with an Adirondack spruce top with scalloped X-braces so that this small guitar produces enough volume. This makes it very suitable for fingerstyle, but even with a light stroke this 045 convinces with a clear, perfectly balanced sound.

The 045 combines the expression of a large guitar with the dynamics of a smaller body, and thanks to the wide and firmly profiled mahogany neck with a longer scale of 645 mm (25.4"), this 14-fretter plays great. The 45-style abalone inlay completes the guitar, because thanks to the inlaid abalone on the top, the back, the sides and even along the heel, this guitar undoubtedly has the allure of an absolute top model!

This Custom Shop 045 was built in 2014, and has very light playwear on the pickguard and the back of the body. The binding of the neck has undergone a repair due to slight shrinkage of the ivoroid on both sides of the nut, as well as on the neck joint and on the heel. There is also a minuscule hairline crack in the lacquer on the top, running from the binding in the waist on the bass side of the guitar. Otherwise, however, this Martin is exceptionally clean, and these details do not detract from to the beauty of the instrument!
