The L5S was introduced by Gibson in 1972, and was in fact a smaller and thinner solid body variant of the popular L5 hollow body.

Visually, the similarities are unmistakable—the L5S features the same lavish binding on the body and neck, adorned with abalone block inlays and the elegant flower pot inlay.

Crafted with a layered flamed maple body and a five-piece neck, this guitar carries a substantial weight of 4.1 kilograms despite its graceful contours. Equipped with two Tarback humbuckers designed by Bill Lawrence, it delivers a clear yet warm tone, making it an excellent choice for jazz and blues.

The L5S is far from an everyday sight, and this 1978 example remains in excellent condition considering its age.
