Gibson Custom 1965 Firebird VII Reissue Golden Mist Limited Edition 2013

The Firebird is already one of the coolest electric guitars, of course, but this Golden Mist Reissue has something extra in store; the guitar was owned for years by Pablo van de Poel of DeWolff!

Pablo bought the guitar in 2018 and had it customized to his liking. The large neck profile was reduced to a comfortable C-profile, and the beautiful Golden Mist finish was subsequently reapplied. The electronics were also modified; the middle pickup's magnet was flipped for an out-of-phase sound and can be engaged with the push/pull function of a tone knob.

The reversed Firebird VII was a revolutionary design when it first emerged from Kalamazoo 50 years ago, and it has remained one of the most distinctive and distinctive guitars ever since. This special 20th Anniversary 1965 Firebird VII Reissue brings together all the radical design elements and signature features of this groundbreaking instrument in a guitar whose appearance fully reflects its status.

The guitar shines with its beautiful Golden Mist nitrocellulose lacquer finish, gold-colored hardware including the Maestro Vibrato, three Mini Humbuckers and banjo tuners, the white pickguard with Firebird logo, and of course the authentic reverse-body design by legendary Duesenberg car designer Ray Dietrich. Just like the original, the guitar features a nine-ply mahogany/walnut neck-through design with solid mahogany body wings.

It's no surprise that a guitar like this in the hands of one of the country's best guitarists has accumulated some playwear here and there. Pablo used the guitar during various performances, such as at Rockpalast 2019 during the song "Deceit & Woo," during the Tascam Tapes album release party at Paradiso in 2020, and during various Jimi Hendrix tributes.

The guitar is clean for a tour instrument, and as a limited edition of 100 pieces, it's also a special instrument as a 20th Anniversary model from Gibson's Custom Art & Historic department, as the medal on the control access cover attests. And to top it all off, this guitar plays and sounds simply fantastic, letting you follow in the footsteps of a true rock star!
