Stephen Marchione 15" Archtop Red 2009

The 15" Archtop is a fantastic guitar of exceptional quality, and its dazzling red finish immediately draws attention. With a single neck humbucker, this Marchione is a jazz guitar through and through.

From the very first glance, it's clear that Marchione guitars are well-designed instruments, with build quality that borders on perfection. The range includes both acoustic and electric guitars, and even violins. In the electric category, Marchione builds Archtops in various sizes, with this Archtop, with its 15" body, being the smallest model in this category.

Finished in a striking red and with a matching Calton case, this Marchione is a guitar that loves to command attention. The flamed maple body is paired with a spruce top, and the bridge, tailpiece, pickguard, fingerboard, and headstock overlay are made of exceptionally beautiful ebony. By using the finest materials, this Marchione is in a class of its own in terms of both sound and playability; with their experience and attention to detail, Marchione also manages to build a stable, reliable, and easy-to-play neck time and time again.

Marchione's Archtops have fabulous projection, with a full and pleasant acoustic tone. Amplified, the guitar also excels thanks to the hand-wound neck humbucker, which produces a warm sound. The Archtop is stage-ready and, thanks to the stainless steel frets, Sperzel Locking Tuners and Schaller Strap Locks: Reliable and stable.

Stephen Marchione began building instruments in 1990 and, at a young age, had the opportunity to work in the guitar world at Pensa-Suhr. Under the watchful eye of the renowned John Suhr, he learned the basics of guitar making while also gaining experience with New York violin makers Guy Rabut and Charles Rufino. Marchione Guitars was founded in New York in 1993, and in 2001 he returned to his hometown of Houston, Texas, to continue building guitars in his own workshop.

This Marchione 15" Archtop was built in 2009 and is in excellent condition. There is a small crackle in the finish on the heel curve, and a few spots in the finish on the upper fret ends. Furthermore, the guitar has accumulated playwear and some minor dings, including light buckle wear on the back of the body. Finally, there's a ding on the horn on the treble side of the headstock, and part of the center seam on the back of the body has been reglued. Overall, however, the guitar is very clean and a unique instrument with beautiful looks and a matching sound!
