Martin 000 14 Fret Cherry Hill Custom 2024
With this 000 Cherry Hill Custom, Martin honors the place where it all began when C.F. Martin moved his workshop to Pennsylvania in 1839. The rare American cherry body gives this guitar a unique warm tone that you simply won't find in rosewood or mahogany, perfect for fingerpicking!
In 1839, C.F. Martin laid the foundation stone for his new workshop in Cherry Hill, Pennsylvania, after relocating his company from Manhattan. That historic location, less than half a mile from the current Martin factory, serves as the inspiration for this special Custom series. It is a beautiful circle that Martin now uses this rare American cherry wood, a type of wood that is rarely suitable for guitar building due to its limited size. The combination of the cherry wood with a Sitka spruce top results in a clear and balanced sound in which warm midtones take center stage.
This makes the guitar particularly suitable for fingerpicking, allowing chords to be rendered clearly and transparently. The refined response ensures that even subtle playing techniques come into their own. Details such as the maple binding and the specially selected ebony for the fingerboard and bridge complete the visual picture, while the classic Diamond & Squares abalone inlay adds a touch of elegance. With a comfortable scale length of 632 mm, a neck profile with High Performance Taper, and Grover Open Gear tuning machines, this instrument is not only a beautiful sight but also a reliable and inspiring partner for any guitarist looking for something authentic with its own character.
This Martin from the Custom Shop was built in 2024 and is in excellent condition. The guitar features an elongated ding on the treble side of the body, with a very small ding also on the back of the body. Furthermore, we find traces of a string winder on the bass side of the headstock. Finally, the bridge pins have been replaced with Martin Liquid Metal bridge pins, but the original ones are included in the case. A special guitar with a special sound!
