Huss & Dalton DS Crossroads Spruce Rosewood Sunburst 2014
This slope-shouldered Huss & Dalton guitar is built for power and body. Big in sound without sacrificing clarity, this instrument is a clear nod to the traditional slope-shoulder guitars of the 1930s and 1940s.
The Crossroads series is among Huss & Dalton's most popular models. These guitars are inspired by the builders' deep appreciation for the early blues from the Mississippi Delta of the early twentieth century. They carry both the look and the tonal character of the vintage instruments played by the great names of the genre. Furthermore, Huss & Dalton has made the bracing lighter and the scale length slightly shorter, resulting in that woody, dry, and percussive tone that blues relies so heavily on.
This 14-fret DS Crossroads is based on the standard DS model but is executed as a flat top with a shorter scale length, a more subdued appearance, and modified bracing tuned for the lower string tension. The result is a no-nonsense workhorse with a remarkably wide range, from restrained and subtle playing to a raw, pronounced stage presence.
The guitar was built in 2014 and, judging by its signs of play, the built-in Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend, and strap button, has been used as a true stage guitar! There is a stabilized crack between the neck end and the soundhole. Playing marks and dings can be found on the top and body, including buckle wear on the back of the body. Playing marks can also be found on the back of the neck and on the pickguard. The guitar is in very good condition and is a real player!
