Gibson Original 50s LG2 Antique Natural

Originally introduced in 1942 during Gibson’s legendary Banner era, the LG 2 quickly established itself as one of Gibson’s most beloved small body acoustics. Positioned as the successor to the L 00 and released alongside icons such as the J 45 and Southern Jumbo, the LG 2 offered players a big, balanced voice in a more compact and comfortable format.

The LG 2 50s Original faithfully captures the spirit of the highly sought after 1950s models, combining vintage inspired aesthetics with modern Gibson craftsmanship. It features a solid Sitka spruce top supported by traditional scalloped X bracing, paired with solid mahogany back and sides for a warm, focused and resonant tone. The smaller body size makes it an excellent choice for players looking for comfort without sacrificing projection or character.

The mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded profile and is joined to the body with a compound dovetail joint secured using hot hide glue. The unbound rosewood fingerboard features 20 frets and understated mother of pearl dot inlays. Classic visual details include the sloped rectangular rosewood bridge with mother of pearl dots, a tortoise teardrop pickguard and three ply top binding with single ply back binding.

Hardware appointments include a bone nut and saddle, TUSQ bridge pins and Grover strap tuners with cream buttons. For modern performance needs, the LG 2 50s Original is equipped with an internal L R Baggs VTC pickup system with discreet soundhole mounted volume and tone controls, making it ready for stage and studio use straight out of the case. The guitar is delivered in a Gibson hardshell case.
