Gibson Lifton 4 Latch Les Paul Case 1955-1958
A vintage Les Paul naturally deserves a vintage hardshell case, and if you're looking for one, you've found it here!
The Gibson Lifton Case with four latches was supplied with the Les Paul between 1955 and 1958, thus witnessing the transition between the Gold Tops and the Sunburst models. The case was originally equipped with a brown exterior, a pink plush interior, and four brass latches. However, this case is no longer in its original condition, both inside and out.
We can see that the case was once painted black, but this refinish is no longer fully present. The leather handle covering is also missing, and one of the hinges has been replaced. The pin on the middle hinge is missing, so it no longer closes completely. All four latches are fully functional. Upon opening the case, we notice that the original pink upholstery has been replaced with red plush, which still helps protect the guitar inside from scratches and minor impacts.
The case is in good condition and, in addition to the aforementioned modifications, has one interesting aspect worth mentioning. The lid is imprinted with the name Ken Water(s), and we can assume this is one of the suitcase's previous owners. We can only imagine the other adventures this suitcase has experienced, but they have undoubtedly been wonderful!
