The 2008 Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul Custom Ebony VOS is a tribute to one of the most intriguing guitars in rock history.

Based on Page’s legendary “Black Beauty” from 1960, a triple-humbucker Les Paul Custom with Bigsby, this model breathes the atmosphere of his early years as a session guitarist and his work with The Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. The original was stolen in 1970 and became “the one that got away,” which gives this limited reissue of only 500 units extra significance.

The build and appearance are fully in line with the original. The Ebony finish, combined with gold-plated hardware and the subtle VOS aging, gives this Les Paul an understated, weathered character. The slimmer neck sits smoothly in the hand and feels instantly familiar, while the combination of three humbuckers provides a rich, layered sound. The addition of a Bigsby vibrato makes the whole package complete and adds an extra dimension to the playing experience, without compromising the sustain and stability for which this model is known.

What truly sets this guitar apart is the extensive electronics. The six-position switch allows you to use not only the classic bridge, middle, and neck positions, but also combinations such as bridge and middle or all three pickups simultaneously. Furthermore, the push/pull function allows for single-coil-like sounds, which further broadens the palette. The result is an instrument with enormous tonal flexibility, from clear, open cleans to full, powerful rock tones, exactly as you would expect from a guitar so closely linked to Jimmy Page’s musical legacy.

Apart from the pre-applied VOS patina, the guitar has accumulated light signs of wear from playing, but otherwise looks very neat. Comes with a certificate of authenticity in a Gibson case.
