The Gibson SJ-200 was introduced in 1937 and quickly earned the nickname “the King of the Flat-Tops,” a title it owes to its imposing size, exceptional projection, and unmistakable stage presence. The model was embraced by a wide range of artists, from country and folk singers to rock legends, and vintage examples are highly sought after by collectors.

 

Epiphone has brought this model back to life through a collaboration with Gibson Custom, resulting in the 1957 SJ-200 Reissue: an Inspired by Gibson Custom recreation for today’s guitarist.

 

The guitar is built around a thermally aged Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-bracing, combined with solid figured maple back and sides—exactly the tonewood combination that gives the SJ-200 its signature bright and powerful sound.
