This 000 is part of Atkin's Essential Series. The guitars in this series all feature a Baked Sitka spruce top and a mahogany back, and this Custom model adds a Shade Top finish and an Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The guitars possess the essentials a guitar needs, and therefore have the Atkin tone 100%! Thanks to the baked top with scalloped X-bracing, this compact guitar nevertheless boasts a rich sound with sufficient bass.
The lightweight mahogany neck has a comfortable C-profile and joins the body at the 14th fret. Combined with the rosewood fingerboard, this ensures a smooth playing feel, which, thanks to the wider nut, is ideal for fingerstyle players. The Aged nitrocellulose finish makes this guitar stand out immediately and gives it the look, feel, and sound of a well-played vintage instrument—exactly what many guitarists are looking for!
Atkin Guitars was founded in 1995 in Canterbury, England. Alister Atkin started as a one-man business, building a few handmade guitars per year. Over time, due to the great success of the guitars, the company expanded to its current workforce of 16 employees, but the 750 guitars the brand builds annually have always remained handmade.
The guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity in a TKL case.
