Asturias Standard Concert Cedar Rosewood 1991

Classical guitars from Japan are beloved for their exceptional quality, and this 1991 Asturias Standard Concert certainly doesn't disappoint. With a cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides, it delivers a warm, balanced tone that will appeal to any classical guitarist.

This Asturias Standard Concert is constructed with proven materials. The cedar top, supported by fan bracing, gives the guitar a warm and expressive tone with plenty of nuance and a pleasant sustain. The solid Indian rosewood back and sides bring clarity and depth to the sound, while the ebony fingerboard and cedar neck contribute to comfortable playability.

The story behind Asturias begins in 1962, when legendary Japanese luthier Masaru Matano opened his workshop in Kurume under the name Meiko Gakki. Matano had already made a name for himself as a violin restorer, restoring historic Stradivariuses, among other things, before he turned his attention to guitar making. His workshop grew into a small but renowned team of around ten craftsmen, each capable of building a guitar independently from start to finish. Since 1981, the workshop has been headed by master luthier Wataru Tsuiji, who has continued his predecessor's quality standards. The guitars built here are considered excellent mid-range instruments in the classical guitar world and are highly regarded internationally.

This 1991 Standard Concert is in excellent condition for its age. Several dings can be found on the top, primarily behind the bridge. The back of the body has very light playwear, and there are some minor dings on the back of the neck near the first frets. Otherwise, the guitar is exceptionally clean and comes in a hardshell case with a TFOA passport.
